OSAKA
1. OSAKA AQUARIUM
Osaka Aquarium is located at Osakako Station on the Chuo subway line.
Hours: 10:00 to 20:00 (entrance until 19:00)
Closed: Seven irregular closing days per year (see official website)
Admission: 2000 yen
2. MINAMI
The Minami area is centered around Namba Station and the Osaka City Air Terminal (OCAT) and is served by multiple train and subway routes as well as buses.
Namba Station is not a single station, but rather a collection of multiple station buildings and platforms, including Nankai Namba Station, JR Namba Station and Kintetsu Namba Station. Furthermore, the Midosuji, Yotsubashi and Sennichimae Subway Lines stop at their respective Namba Stations.
Most airport and highway buses serve the Osaka City Air Terminal (OCAT), which is located in the same building as JR Namba Station.
From Shin-Osaka and Osaka Stations:
The Midosuji Subway line connects Shin-Osaka and Osaka/Umeda Stations directly to Namba Station. It takes approximately 8 minutes and 230 yen from Osaka/Umeda Station and 15 minutes and 270 yen from Shin-Osaka Station.
From Kansai Airport:
By Train:
Nankai Railways operates direct trains between Kansai Airport and Nankai Namba Station. Express trains take around 45 minutes and cost 890 yen (non-reserved seats only), while limited express trains (“Rap:t”) take around 35 minutes and cost 1390 yen (reserved seats only).
It is also possible to travel by JR, but it requires a transfer at Tennoji Station along the way. The whole trip takes approximately one hour and costs 1030 yen, using the JR Airport Rapid.
By Bus:
Buses run from Kansai Airport to the Osaka City Air Terminal (OCAT) approximately every 30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the airport limousine bus counter and cost 880 yen. Travel time is about 50 minutes.
3. SUMIYOSHI
Sumiyoshi Taisha is located in southern Osaka, a few steps from Sumiyoshi Taisha Station on the Nankai Main Line. From Nankai Namba Station, the train ride takes less than 10 minutes by local train (futsudensha). Note that faster train categories don’t stop at Sumiyoshi Taisha Station.
The shrine can also be reached by the Hankai Tramway.
4. OSAKA CASTLE
The recommended approach to Osaka Castle is through Otemon Gate at the park’s southwestern corner. The closest station is Tanimachi 4-chrome Station along the Tanimachi Subway Line and Chuo Subway Line.
The closest JR station to Osaka Castle is Osakajokoen Station on the JR Loop Line, a 10 minute, 160 yen ride from JR Osaka Station.
Castle Tower
Hours: 9:00 to 17:00 (entrance until 16:30)
Extended hours during various holidays and special exhibitions
Closed: December 28 to January 1
Admission: 600 yen
Nishinomaru Garden
Hours: 9:00 to 17:00 (until 16:30 from November through February)
Longer hours during the cherry blossom season.
Closed: Mondays (or following day if Monday is a national holiday)
Admission: 200 yen (350 yen during the extended hours of the cherry blossom season)
5. SHITENNOJI TEMPLE
Shitennoji Temple is a short walk from Shitennoji-mae-Yuhigaoka Station on the Tanimachi Subway Line. Alternatively, it can be reached in a ten minute walk north of JR Tennoji Station on the JR Loop Line.
Inner sanctum (Golden Hall)
Hours: 8:30 to 16:30 (until 16:00 from October through March)
Admission ends 20 minutes before closing time.
Closed: No closing days
Admission: 300 yen (inner sanctum only), 700 yen (everything)
Treasure House
Hours: 8:30 to 16:30 (until 16:00 from October through March)
Admission ends 20 minutes before closing time.
Closed: Mondays (except if Monday falls on a national holiday)
Admission: 200 yen (treasure house only), 700 yen (everything)
Gokuraku-jodo Garden
Hours: 10:00 to 16:00 (entry until 15:30)
Closed: Irregularly when memorial services are held.
Admission: 300 yen (garden only), 700 yen (everything)
6. OSAKA MUSEUM OF HISTORY
Osaka Museum of History is located across from the southwest corner of Osaka Castle Park. The closest station is Tanimachi 4-chome Station on the Tanimachi Subway Line and Chuo and Tanimachi Subway Lines, a five minute walk from the museum.
The closest JR station is Morinomiya Station on the JR Loop Line, a 20-30 minute walk from the museum.
Hours: 9:30 to 17:00 (until 20:00 on Fridays)
Admission ends 30 minutes before closing
Closed: Tuesday (or following day if Tuesday is a national holiday)

7. KITA (UMEDA)
The Osaka/Umeda station complex is the busiest in western Japan, shared by four different railway companies. It consists of multiple separate stations:
Above ground:
Osaka Station (Japan Railways)
Hankyu Umeda Station (Hankyu Railways)
Underground:
Hanshin Umeda Station (Hanshin Railways)
Umeda Station (Midosuji Subway Line)
Nishi-Umeda Station (Yotsubashi Subway Line)
Higashi-Umeda Station (Tanimachi Subway Line)
From Shin-Osaka Station:
4 minutes, 160 yen by frequently departing JR trains. Alternatively, the Midosuji Subway Line takes 6 minutes and costs 230 yen.
From Namba Station:
8 minutes, 230 yen by Midosuji or Yotsubashi Subway Line.
8. NATIONAL BUNRAKE THEATER
The closest station is Nippombashi Station on the Subway Sennichimae and Tanimachi Lines.
9. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ART
The National Museum of Art is located on Nakanoshima Island directly adjacent to the Osaka Science Museum. Take the Yotsubashi Subway Line to Higobashi Station, from where the museum can be reached in a 5-10 minute walk. Nakanoshima Station on the Keihan Nakanoshima Line is even closer.

10. MINO PARK
Mino Park starts a short walk north of Hankyu Mino Station. From Umeda in central Osaka, take the Hankyu Takarazuka Line from Hankyu Umeda Station to Ishibashi Sation (15 minutes) and transfer to the Hankyu Mino Line to Mino Station (5 minutes). The entire one way trip takes about 25 minutes, costs 260 yen and is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. There are frequent connections.
11. UMEDA SKY BUILDING
The Umeda Sky Building is a 10-15 minute walk from Osaka and Umeda Stations.
Floating Garden Observatory
Hours: 10:00 to 22:30 (entrance until 22:00)
Closed: Two consecutive days in January
Admission: 700 yen
12. PEACE OSAKA
Peace Osaka is located in the south of Osaka Castle Park, a few steps from Morinomiya Station on the Subway Chuo and Nagahori Tsurumi-Ryokuchi Lines.
Hours: 9:30 to 17:00 (entrance until 16:30)
Closed: Mondays and the day following a national holidays
The last day of each month and December 28 to January 4
Admission: 250 yen
13. SHINSEKAI
Shinsekai is a short walk from Shin-Imamiya Station on the JR Loop Line, Dobutsuen-mae Station on the Midosuji and Tanimachi Subway Lines, and Ebisucho Station on the Tanimachi Subway Line.
Tsutenkaku Tower
Hours: 9:00 to 21:00 (entry until 20:30)
Closed: No closing days
Admission: 600 yen
Spa World
Hours: 24 hours (baths are cleaned between 8:45 and 10:00 am)
Closed: Infrequent, irregular closures for inspection
Admission: 2400 yen (3 hours), 2700 yen (all day)
300 yen surcharge on weekends and holidays
1000 yen overnight surcharge
14. OSAKA BAY AREA
Tempozan Harbor Village and Sakushima Island are connected to central Osaka by the Chuo Subway Line. The Chuo Line runs from central Osaka to Osakako Station (a 5 minute walk from Tempozan Harbor Village), before terminating at Cosmosquare Station on Sakushima Island.
From Cosmosquare Station, an elevated train, the New Tram, serves Sakushima Island and eventually connects to Suminoekoen Station on the Yotsubashi Subway Line.
Universal Studios on Sakurajima Island is connected to JR Osaka Station by the JR Sakurajima Line (15 minutes, 170 yen).
15. OSAKA SCIENCE MUSEUM
The Osaka Science Museum is located on Nakanoshima Island directly adjacent to the National Museum of Art Osaka. Take the Yotsubashi Subway Line to Higobashi Station, from where the museum can be reached in a 5-10 minute walk. Nakanoshima Station on the Keihan Nakanoshima Line is even closer.
Hours: 9:30 to 16:45 (entry until 16:00)
Closed: Mondays, days following a national holiday (except weekends),
New Year holidays and infrequent, irregular closing days
Admission: 400 yen (separate fees for planetarium and Omnimax)
